It’s been almost a day since we really started pushing this idea and already we have well over a hundred people signed up on the Facebook event to blog about their geeky hobbies and vocations during the week of September 12th. WOW.
Today, I need your help to comment on these logos provided by two, different individuals. The logos will be used to identify the event and will be free to share with everyone. We’ll probably set up a Facebook fan page and a Tumblr account where people can aggregate their posts the week of, too.
The first is this one graciously provided by Suzanna Reeves.
The second and third are variations on a theme benevolently given by AJ Freemont from transcendingpixels.blogspot.com.
Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

I prefer one of AJ’s (haven’t decided if I have a preference between those two). I like the simplicity of design, the inclusion of the motto,and the inverted exclamation point/old school Fisher Price Little People feel to the figure.

I like the concept behind the first one, combining a recognizably geek element with the whole mouth/speak element, but it looks vaguely like the lips are smoking part of the power sign.

As much as I love Suzanna, I love the geeky feel of A.J.’s design overall. Out of the two, I’d go with the bottom one for a cleaner look.

I vote for the bottom one (single geek with glasses). I like its clean lines, its 100-yard recognizably, and its gender-neutral nature.

I would go with #3.
#2 is a little cluttered and difficult to read, though I like the background. Maybe if it were a lighter shade of gray?

I’d like for the afternoon and evening crowd to have a shot at voting. Then we’ll tally up the feedback and announce the “winner” tomorrow.
We’ll be sharing the logo with everyone, so I may be tagging Suzanna or A.J. to help me out with formats for Tumblr and the like.
Does anyone have any thoughts on a spot color for text or things like header design?

I tend to prefer cleaner designs for my logos so I would say number 3 is the best. Number 2 would work good in larger uses with a possible addition of color for the background exclamation points. Number 1, while good, doesn’t convey the message and I thought was initially a G for Geek before I realized at second glance that it’s the Standby symbol for Power.

I really like the lighter version of #2 (crowds of geeks emerging from the fog is scarygood), but #3 is good too. Great work, AJ! They both remind me of a wooden doll one of my uncles brought back from his tour in Okinawa for me when I was a baby.
